FRSC To Impose Heavy Fines On Owners Of Abandoned Vehicles

FRSC To Impose Heavy Fines On Owners Of Abandoned Vehicles
The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) on Tuesday said it would henceforth impose heavy fines on owners of abandoned vehicles on the highways.
Mr Kehinde Dahunsi, the Ore Unit Commander of the commission, said this in an interview with newsmen Ore, Ondo State.

He said abandoned vehicles often cause traffic gridlock and accidents on the highways.
The commander said that his command had cleared all such vehicles from the Benin-Ore expressway and other axis of its command for free flow of vehicular activities.
“It is a serious road offence to abandon or leave the ’ vehicles involved in an accident on the highway to cause distractions, traffic gridlock and further accidents.
“ We have removed all these vehicles from the highways but any vehicle found henceforth will attract heavy fines before releasing them to their owners,’’ Dahunsi said.
He, however, urged motorists to embrace safety precautions through routine maintenance of their vehicles before putting them on the road.
