Tochi's Blog Exclusive: Uchechi's weight loss journey.




Before I post this interview I will like to share a quick back story about this lady. Uchechi was my paddy in secondary school like we were really close. Used to sit together in class from Js2- SS1 in RSUST,International Secondary School(Iss) and we technically grew up in the same neighborhood. In case you have doubts and think that this is a fabricated gist.

Anybody that knew her then described her as fat Uchechi because we had two uchechi in our set so imagine my surprise when I saw her post on Instagram. She shared a picture of her before and now and I just had to ping her. I asked for this interview and she granted it. Read the interview after the cut...

Please introduce yourself:
My name is Miss Uchechi Wachukwu but also known as (Flouxi Godchild) I come from ikwerre in Rivers State and I'm currently a practising lawyer in Yenagoa of Bayelsa State. 



What inspired you to embark on your weight loss journey?
I started gaining a lot of weight when I was a teenager & was non chalant  about it. It was after I left secondary school that I became really disturbed about my weight because I look older than my age & was having breath challenge & other health challenge.
I started working out & registered at a gym,but after that I saw little or no results & I became a little depressed & gave up,with the mind set that I'm naturally a fat person.
After so many years,my aunt who was also fat,came visiting & she has lost so much weight. My aunt Briggs Ngoba showed me pictures of women who had transformed their lives from being obese to slim& hot ladies without taking any pills but by mere discipline & determination in the women of Adata Bio-Briggs, Adiaha Ekaowo & great marathoner Tee Morgan. That was how I got inspired after seeing & met some of these great women through a group "Women Encouraging Women to live Healthy"(WEW) is a closed group for women only who want to live a healthy lifestyle, WEW also has a free access for all WEW COOKBOOK, where we have variety of healthy options of food & drink.
I started jogging short distance & gradually stretch to long distance running & Abs & cardio workout. And within a space of one month of consistency in workout & healthy eating, I started seeing results.
I started serious workout from 1st of August 2014 & was weighing 102kg & no I'm not married neither was I pregnant but had so much weight, but now I'm weighing 83kg,and I'm still a work in progress because I haven't got to my target weight which is 70kg.

The kinds of meal I take
Firstly I had to stop eating junk food & eating out,I eat more of homemade food & my food both stew & soup is cooked without oil both palm oil or vegetable oil & you know what they really taste nice & healing to the body.
I will just quickly give a run down of all the healthy food I take & they are;
Brown rice,yam,cocoyam,plaintan, sweet potatos,beans,oatmeal, oatmeal flour,whole grain brown bread,wheat noodles & spaghetti, couscous,skinless chicken( mostly chicken breast)goat meat,kpomo,fishes,prawns& other seafood, fruits (all types& should not be taken after 4pm in a day)groundnuts, almond nuts,cashew nuts(in little quantity in a day), green tea,black tea, honey,lemon,carrots,cabbage, red cabbage, lettuce, celery, parsley, mint leaves,zucchini,cucumber,skimmed milk,protein shake, coconut oil,almond oil,olive oil,cooking spray to mention but a few.

My advice for other ladies out there that want to loose weight.
My advice is summarised in one word, "discipline" If you can discipline yourself to workout for 30-45 mins. a day,5 days in a week, and eat healthy, I tell you, you will be amazed how the fat cells in your body will die.
Have this quote in mind,Robert H. Schuller said " The only place where your dream becomes impossible is in your own thinking ".
Once your determined to lose those extra pounds,then you have to start from where you are & with what you have.
When you are disciplined it makes you consistent & when your consistent then you know,you are working hard & that's how you start seeing results.
If you are the type that has huge appetite for food, then you really have to apply portion control in your eating habit, you can't out exercise a bad diet.
If I flouxi can move from size 20 to size 14 within a short space of 7 months, then you can do it.

So there it is, I know what it feels like to be described as fat, it messes with your mind and how you feel about yourself, it makes you feel unwanted. It's a very annoying stereo type. My friend Uchechi is an inspiration to ladies out there wanting to loose weight and actually working on it. Loosing weight is by far the hardest thing to do, I say this because I know. I've been in between a size 10 and 12 the past three years. 

She is working on starting a group that comprises of others who would want to join her in the weight loss journey. Watch this space for all the deets.
