FG spends N100bn yearly on education –Sambo



Vice President Namadi Sambo, has disclosed that the Federal Government expends over N100 billion annually on educational projects across the country.
While observing the foundation laying ceremony of Dame Patience Jonathan’s 360 bed female hostel and an ultra modern International Conference Center both at Bayero University Kano yesterday, said that 1.5 trillion naira have been earmarked from the Presidential Support Funds on education to address the urgent needs of universities and other tertiary institutions of learning.
Sambo said that as part of the Jonathan led transformation agenda, similar projects will continue to spring up in institutions of higher learning across the country.
He said in a bid to attain set out Nigeria’s vision 2020, the Federal Government devoted resources on the construction of diverse projects in tertiary institutions, adding that the cost of these projects amounts to billions of naira.
He said the Federal Government is nursing the ambition to set Nigeria educational system on a track that would enable it competes anywhere in the world.
According to him, Jonathan’s administration through TETFUND had disbursed over 11 billion naira on 34 completed projects and 40 ongoing schemes in Nigerian universities. Sambo came to Kano in the company of Minister of Education, Ibrahim Shekarau, alongside top government functionaries.
National Mirror reports that, the city centre was under tight security as security personnel were strategically stationed on major streets in the city. The closure of selected major roads led to traffic gridlock as motorist were compelled to divert to other routes to navigate their way in the metropolis.
 
I don't think uniport is aware of this arrangement, or maybe someone is using our share to buy a house in Calabasas, if your in uniport you will understand! We don't have classrooms to learn in, we take turns to write exams, our tuition fee right now is just outrageous.So it's one of two things, uniport isn't in the list of schools that Federal Government spends on or someone is using the money to invest in there retirement.
