Lamar Odom's best friend Jamie Sangouthai, 37, 'did not OD but rather died from flesh-eating disease caused by dirty needles'

Not an OD: Jamie Sangouthai died from 'a flesh-eating disease caused by dirty needles,' according to a Thursday report from TMZ (he and Lamar Odom are seen here in an Instagram post from 2013)

It was widely speculated that Jamie Sangouthai, 37, died on Sunday from a heroin overdose as he had been seriously struggling with drug issues for months.
But on Thursday TMZ reported the best friend of Lamar Odom actually passed away because of 'a flesh-eating disease caused by dirty needles.'

'The exact terms are necrotizing fasciitis - bacterial skin infection - and chronic intravenous narcotism, which is IV drug abuse,' the LA County Coroner told the site.
The Coroner maintained that Sangouthai 'went to the hospital for the infected arm, but the disease spreads quickly and often becomes life threatening.'
Sangouthai appeared with Lamar and Khloe Kardashian, 30, on their reality show Khloe & Lamar for two seasons from 2011 to 2012.
He died at a hospital in Los Angeles. While his death may have come as a shock to many, it appears Jamie was struggling for some time.
According to the documents, a bench warrant was issued for Jamie's arrest after he failed to appear in court back in January.
The star was arrested in April 2014 for possession of methamphetamine, which he at first pleaded guilty but agreed to a deferred entry of judgement that would have allowed him not to have a conviction against his name if he completed the count mandated provisions.
