‘Lecturers contributed to rots in Nigeria’s education sector’

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has accused lecturers in some higher institutions of being responsible for the increasing incidences of sexual harassment and cultism in higher institutions in the country.
Fayose, who expressed concern over the pervasive moral decadence in the country higher institutions,
said lecturers who should be engaged in character moulding are themselves guilty of sexual harassment and victimization of the male students.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday said he would for the rest of his life continue to miss his late wife,Stella, who died a decade ago.
Mr. Obasanjo made this known while speaking at the 10th memorial service for Stella, at the Chapel of Christ the Glorious King located inside the premises of Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta.
The former First Lady died on October 23, 2005, during a botched cosmetic procedure in a Spanish hospital in Spain.

Al-Qaeda leader in Syria is killed in Aleppo...

Al-Qaeda's leader in Syria has been killed, according to local reports.

The al-Nusra Front, the Sunni Islamic jihadist militia fighting against Syrian Government forces in the civil war, confirmed Sheikh Abu Sulaiman Al Masri's death this morning.

Images of his body, containing a bloody head wound, have been shared online.

It is believed he was killed in the Syrian capital of Aleppo.

The cause of his death has not yet been confirmed.

Rivers State Elections Petitions Tribunal Update

The Rivers State Elections Tribunal sitting in Abuja has given a Verdict. The April 11 Rivers State Gubernatorial Election that Governor Wike was declared Winner has been Nullified...The tribunal, which just delivered its ruling in Abuja today Saturday, has ordered that a fresh governorship election be conducted in the state.

Senate shifts ministerial screening to Oct 27

The Nigerian Senate has postponed the screening of ministerial nominees to next week Tuesday, October 27, when it resumes for plenary.
In other news The Senate finally screened former Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers); former Speaker, Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Heineken Lopkobiri (Bayelsa); Claudius Omoyele Daramola (Ondo); Baba Shehun Mustapha (Bornu) and Ocholi Enojo James (Kogi).
The screening of former Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Prof. Isaac Adewole, a ministerial nominee from Osun State, earlier billed to be screened today, was rescheduled to next week.

Lamar Odom released from hospital in Las Vegas and airlifted to rehab facility in LA as he tells estranged wife Khloe Kardashian: 'I love you'

Lamar Odom has been discharged from Sunrise hospital in Las Vegas, almost a week since he was found unconscious from a near-fatal overdose in a brothel.

According to reports, the onetime NBA great has been breathing on his own this week after collapsing last Tuesday and was even able to tell his estranged wife, Khloe Kardashian: 'I love you'.

Odom was airlifted about 5.30pm to Los Angeles, where he will continue rehabilitation.

The Kardashian clan has united in Las Vegas a day after Khloe’s legal husband Lamar Odom awoke from his three-day coma. 

Odom, the former LA Lakers star who collapsed on Tuesday during a drink and drug-fueled binge in a Nevada brothel, was taken off his ventilator on Friday night. 

On hearing the news, Kim Kardashian, her mother Kris Jenner and sister Kendall Jenner dropped everything to board a private jet in Van Nuys, California, bound for Nevada's Sunrise Hospital, where Khloe Kardashian has been keeping a 24-hour vigil beside her estranged husband, despite breaking up with him in 2013. 

Ex-Minister of Education, Olaiya Oni is dead

Former Minister of Education and pioneer Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) Dr. Olaiya Oni is dead.
He was aged 74.
According to his Family, Oni  has been experiencing some health challenges since 2012,one of the reasons he relocated from Akure to his home town, Ise-Akoko in Akoko North East local government area of the state.

Female suicide bombers kill 11...

Two female suicide bombers killed at least 11 people in northeast Nigeria after hiding among residents fleeing a suspected Boko Haram attack on a remote village, police and a local official said on Sunday.

The attack happened in Dar village, in the north of Adamawa state, on Saturday evening, the former head of the Madagali local government council, Maina Ularamu, said.

Boko Haram has repeatedly attacked the area, which is near the border with Borno state to the north and the Islamists’ Sambisa Forest stronghold, prompting calls for better security.

While Lamar Odom's condition has been improving he still remains in ICU after waking up from his four-day coma on Friday, a source tells PEOPLE.

"Lamar today again has had moments when he is awake and more responsive," the source says. "He is still in the ICU, is receiving oxygen and sleeps a lot. He is not talking, but seems to understand when Khloé and the medical staff speak to him. He will have another head MRI in the next few days to check for any damage that could have been caused by the strokes.

Fela Kuti nephew jailed over Boko Haram arms case

A nephew to late Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti  who happens to be a senior Nigerian army officer has been jailed for six months for allowing weapons to fall into the hands of Boko Haram Islamists during a deadly attack, his lawyer said on Friday.
Brigadier General Enitan Ransome-Kuti was convicted at a five-member court martial in Abuja on Thursday for “loss of equipment” during the attack in Baga, Borno state, in January.
The officer was also convicted of failure to discharge his duties but cleared of a third count of “cowardly behaviour”, Femi Falana told AFP.

Lamar Odom Lucky Break On Oxygen Front

According to TMZ...

Lamar Odom was never without oxygen ... and this is a critical factor weighing in his recovery.
Our sources tell us, when Lamar was admitted to the first hospital in Pahrump, Nevada after the 911 call, his respiration's were 6-8 breaths a minute. Normal is 12-20. That led doctors to conclude he was never without oxygen.
We're also told when the ambulance picked Lamar up from the Love Ranch, his blood had 38% oxygen saturation. Paramedics treated him and by the time he entered the ER, the percentage increased to 58%. Normal blood saturation is in the high 90's.
Doctors who are treating Lamar are hopeful he did not suffer significant brain damage because of lack of oxygen. This is all consistent with the person who called 911 and said Lamar was struggling but breathing.
The wild card is that Lamar suffered a series of strokes in the hospital, and it's still undetermined what it did to his brain.

Maiduguri bombed again in Friday morning attack

Three female suicide bombers on Friday, attacked the Umarari Bayan Waya area of Mulai Village in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital with Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), leaving at least seven people feared killed and 17 others injured.
The blast was reported to have occurred around a few minutes past 5am when Muslim faithful were getting ready for the early morning prayer, reports Channels TV.
The explosion claimed the lives of the suicide bombers and four others while 17 injured are currently receiving treatment at the Specialist Hospital.

Drugs found in Lamar Odom's System

Lamar Odom overdosed on Drugs, A source at the hospital where he is been treated disclosed to E!news that drugs were found in his system. Lamar is still unconscious and on a ventilator but is still alive. Apparently, he also suffered from a 'Loss of oxygen' and also a possible stroke.
Most likely there's a brain damage as  Every drug imaginable was found in his system. The source adds.

Lamar Odom found unconscious in a brothel in Nevada

On Tuesday afternoon Lamar Odom was found unconscious in a Nevada Brothel. He has since been rushed to a Local Hospital.

According to E!news his yet to regain consciousness and the prognosis doesn't look good for him. He is in very critical condition. 

His ex- Khloe Kardashian is said to be inconsolable since she heard this news. And is flying to Las Vegas with her ma Kris Jenner and sister Kiki west. 

I hope he wakes up. I really do. 

Who knows this might be what brings them back together. Star crossed lovers these two.

Abuja Bombings: Police nab masterminds

Inspector General of police, Solomon Arase

The Inspector General of police, Solomon Arase declared Tuesday that the Police in Abuja has arrested two terror elements (suspects) in connection with the Oct. 2nd bombings in Nyanya and Kuje, FCT that left 20 persons dead and 41 others injured.
The IGP also made the disclosure that the Police arrested five of the eight man gang that kidnapped Chief Olu Falae noting that they were arrested at their hideouts in Niger, Ekiti and Ondo states with items used for the operation including the sum of N823,000 being part of the ransom paid.

Unknown gun men attacked and shot dead, the Managing Director of Lekki Free Trade Zone, Alhaji Tajudeen Disu.

Disu was on inspection of the area in the early hours of today, rumor has it that he was ambushed by his assailants before he was shot dead at close range, leaving him his pool of blood at Okunraiye community near Ibeju-Lekki today, October 12, 2015.

Eight UI students slump at exam centre

Eight Open Distance Learning, ODL students of the University of Ibadan slumped at the Adebayo Akande E-Centre, Ajibode, Ibadan, after waiting for hours to write the GES 101 examination.
According to Vanguard the students were among the over 3,000 students who arrived at the e-centre at about 8:00 am for the examination. Some of the students were from Ivory Coast. But they were shocked that six hours after arriving the centre, the examination was yet to commence.

Former Governor of Bayelsa State DSP Alamieyeseigha is dead.

Just a couple of weeks,Alamieyeseigha was spotted at the election campaign flag off for Seriake Dickson current Governor of Bayelsa state,Along side Patience Jonathan aka Pee Baby and Former President Jonathan in Bayelsa. He even granted interview to Vanguard where he said he was going to expose former President Obasanjo in his Memoirs. 

When I shared the picture of Diepreye I  made a joke about it,that spotting Diepreye was like actually seeing a Unicorn in real life and in broad day light. His been gone for too long. Well... Such is life.  

I heard word on the street that he went into a Coma two days ago and was rushed to the University Of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH), where he went into Cardiac Arrest Saturday morning and died. He was aged 63. 

May his soul rest in Peace...

Four-year-old becomes dumb after statutory rape by her own father

A mom of Four narrates to Saturday PUNCH how her husband statutory rape their 4year old daughter,and how the trauma has made her 4year old daughter dumb...

Her words...
“It started in 2013 when I suddenly woke up one night and saw my husband removing the panties of my daughter. It was in the midnight. I wanted to shout but I wanted to see what he was up to. So, I pretended as if I didn’t see him because the room was relatively dark.

“When he pulled down her pant, he looked around and when he felt convinced that everyone was deep asleep, he stood up and moved to where the girl was and dipped his hand in her private part. I screamed.

Abuja bombings: NEMA rescue victims, Many feared dead...

Scores of persons were said to have died in the explosions, unconfirmed sources said happened the explosion happened between 9.30 and 10pm. The blast at Kuje was said to have occurred between the Market and the Local Council headquarters.

NEMA disclosed that it was yet to ascertain the number of persons that died in both incidents even as it said rescue services ambulances had ferried several injured to hospitals in Abuja.
