Inspector General of police, Solomon Arase

The Inspector General of police, Solomon Arase declared Tuesday that the Police in Abuja has arrested two terror elements (suspects) in connection with the Oct. 2nd bombings in Nyanya and Kuje, FCT that left 20 persons dead and 41 others injured.
The IGP also made the disclosure that the Police arrested five of the eight man gang that kidnapped Chief Olu Falae noting that they were arrested at their hideouts in Niger, Ekiti and Ondo states with items used for the operation including the sum of N823,000 being part of the ransom paid.

He revealed that the arrest of the suspects foiled another attempt by the terrorists to undertake another attack in the FCT.
He gave their names as Abubakar Auta, Idris Lawan, Umar Ibrahim, Masahudu Muhammed, and Bello Tanu
Asked if the two suspects paraded by the Department of State Service (DSS) regarding same abduction allegation on Monday were part of the eight, the IG said, he had communicated the DG DSS to accommodate the two suspects in the prosecution because police investigation has confirmed they were part of the gang that kidnapped Chief Falae.
“With the money we recovered which is part of the ransom, it is sufficient prove that we have the actual mastermind in our custody, that is why we are proceeding to prosecution.
The IGP noted that the conference was summoned to review police strategies in tackling crime as well as preparations towards the governorship elections scheduled for 21st Nov. 2015 in Kogi and 5th December, 2015 in Bayelsa state.
