365 Days After: No Democracy Day Celebration in Rivers State - Gov. Wike

Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike of Rivers State has declared that because the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has destroyed the foundation of democracy by plotting to allocate legislative seats in the state, there'll be no Democracy day celebration on this part of town.

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State, at a thanksgiving service held at the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja on Sunday, said his ascension into office one year ago as the 14th Governor of the State was an assignment from God, just as he vowed to continue to serve humanity selflessly throughout his tenure and lifetime.

According to President Muhammadu Buhari, The last one year of the All Progressives Congress led federal government has “been a year of triumph, consolidation, pains and achievements”.

The late former Governor of Bayelsa State, Diepreye Alamieseigha, and his wife, Margaret has been ordered by the Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State to vacate a piece of land measuring 5336.919 square metres at Ovom area of the state.
The late former governor and his wife are enmeshed in several cases of alleged land grabbing, including a dispute involving a choice parcel of land located at the Government Reserved Area layout along Otiotio Road in Yenagoa metropolis.

Democracy Day: FG declares May 30 public holiday

The Federal Government has declared Monday, May 30 as public holiday to celebrate the 2016 Democracy Day.
The Minister of Interior, Retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government on Wednesday in Abuja.
The actual Democracy Day is May 29th which happens to be a Sunday, since Sunday is a compulsory no work day,that's why they shifted the Public Holiday to Monday...
