So barely 72 hours after the new Governor of Rivers State was sworn in the people that worked for the previous governor have already quit there jobs. Usually the residents of this part of town bring out there trash or garbage to the center of the road and dump them so when the garbage truck comes around everyday to pick it up! Everyday for the past 8 years and so the residents are used to this routine that's why they still dump the trash like usual. With hopes that the garbage truck will pass through and pick it up.

THE southern states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana saw the most deaths after temperatures in the past week soared to their highest sustained levels in 12 years.
The total toll in both states stood at 2,177, after about 200 more deaths were reported between Friday and Saturday, officials said. Andhra Pradesh recorded a total of 1,636 deaths while Telangana accounted for 541. More than 60 deaths were reported from Orissa, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat states, as well as the national capital, New Delhi, local reports said. Suicide bomber kills six at Borno wedding

The Borno Police Command on Friday said six persons were killed by a sucide bomber, who attacked a venue of a wedding (Fatiha) in Tashan Alade in the Hawul Local Government Area of the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Aderemi Opadokun, said 30 people were also injured during the attack.

Ireland celebrates 'Yes' to gay marriage

IRELAND has celebrated a historic referendum approving gay marriage, as the once all-powerful Catholic Church reflected on the need for a "reality check" to keep in touch with changing times.
JUBILANT "Yes" supporters partied into the night after final results on Saturday showed 62 per cent of votes in favour and 38 per cent against in a country where being gay was a crime until 1993.
The gay community "has given all of Irish democracy one of its greatest days", wrote Irish Times columnist Fintan O'Toole.

"It has given our battered republic a new sense of engagement, a new confidence, an expanded sense of possibility," he said.

Malaysia finds mass graves of suspected migrants

MALAYSIA has found mass graves feared to contain the bodies of Bangladeshi and Rohingya migrants at the centre of a regional human-trafficking crisis. 
    
 
Home Minister Zahid Hamidi was quoted by The Star newspaper’s website as saying the graves were found near suspected detention camps run by people traffickers.
“But we don’t know how many there are. We are probably going to find more bodies,” Zahid was quoted as saying.
Thai police found secret human-trafficking jungle camps on their side of the border in early May and dozens of shallow graves.
The report quoting Zahid gave few details but the Malay-language newspaper Utusan Malaysia, citing an unnamed source, earlier reported that about 30 mass graves had been found containing “hundreds of skeletons”.

Ireland has voted to allow gay marriage, with all constituencies bar one saying yes to constitutional reform

Ireland will legalise gay marriage after voters overwhelmingly backed allowing same-sex unions in a historic referendum.

Celebrations spilled out into Dublin city centre as it became clear that the campaign to extend the right to marry to same-sex couples was heading for a landslide victory.

With more than half of the results in, all constituencies bar one have so far voted in favour of gay marriage, with more than 62 per cent backing reform.

Ireland's equalities minister Aodhán Ó Ríordáin lost his composure as the result became clear, tweeting: 'Ireland hasn't just said "Yes"... Ireland has said: "F*** YEAAHHHH"'.

With 39 constituencies so far returning official results, Ireland is on course to pass gay marriage rights reform more than 62 per cent in favour.

The Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, on Sunday described his new wife, Lara, as a model in his heart.

Oshiomhole, who made this known at a special thanksgiving mass held at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Auchi,‎ however, added that she was not a replacement for his late wife, Clara.
The mass was attended by the Governor’s children – Steve, Jane and Adams (Jnr); the parents of his wife, Mr and Mrs Jesus Fortes, as well as other dignitaries.
The governor also debunked media reports  that the new First Lady was a “top model”, a  speculation he said might have been generated from her “poise and beauty.”

40 migrants feared dead in latest Mediterranean accident

China police bust family drug gang

A family-run drug ring has been busted in Fangchenggang City in south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, local police announced on Wednesday.

Police arrested 8 suspects, and seized 15 kilograms of methamphetamine, 10 kilograms of MDMA, two guns and three vehicles.

Zheng and some of his relatives, who are all unemployed, were the subjects of police investigation for suspected dealing and transportation of drugs in the south province of Guangdong and over the China-Vietnam border.

The gang was busted on May 3 on their way back to Fangchenggang City after picking up drugs from Guangdong Province.

The investigation continues.

Nigerian troops free more women, children from Sambisa

Nigerian military says it has rescued 25 more children and women from Boko Haram as part of its ongoing campaign to attack and destroy the armed group’s camps in the northeast.

Army spokesman Colonel Sani Usman said many Boko Haram fighters were killed in a gun battle on Wednesday morning. One soldier was killed and five others were wounded, Usman said.
Al Jazeera could not independently verify the report.
