Nigerian troops, on Tuesday, liberated and re-took Gamboru Ngala, the strategic neighbouring town to Cameroon and Niger after a fierce battle.
Remember that Gamboru Ngala is the town where Nigerian troops crossed into Cameroon in a tactical maneuver after fierce fighting. In A statement by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Usman, he has gone on confirming the successful takeover of the town here's what he said:
“The Nigerian Army has retaken the economic and strategic town of Gamboru Ngala, Borno State, from the Boko Haram terrorists group today (yesterday). The triumphant troops are now busy with clearing and mopping up patrols.”Meanwhile,The Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, General Gabriel Olonisakin, has commended the field commanders and the troops in the North-East for maintaining the momentum in their efforts to rout terrorists. General Olonisakin gave this commendation while meeting with principal staff officers and senior officers of Defence Headquarters, even as he noted that all hands must be on deck to ensure that the Presidential directive of ending terrorism very shortly is achieved. General Olonisakin also unveiled his vision for Armed Forces of Nigeria which is
“to ensure a well motivated, trained and equipped Armed Forces that is responsive to national security commitments.”Similarly,
Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai, has assured that despite random attacks from Boko Haram terrorists in the North-East, the Nigerian Army is determined to end terrorism menace in the country soon. Towards attaining this objective, Buratai expressed the Nigerian Army’s readiness to cooperate with Brazil and friendly countries to end Boko Haram terrorism. Speaking when he received the Deputy Chief of Army Staff of Brazil for International and Special Affairs, Major General Joarez Alves Pereira Junior, Buratai requested his assistance in facilitation of training billets for Nigerian Army personnel
“particularly in jungle warfare” due to the country’s current security challenges.
