Ludacris reveals glimpse of his Empire character as he poses with co-star Terrence Howard on set ...

Fox's smash hit Empire - which premieres in two months - has fans eagerly awaiting its highly-anticipated return as its list of celebrity guest stars grows by the day.

On Wednesday Ludacris joined the ranks, as he shared an Instagram snap alongside an orange jumpsuit-clad Lucious Lyon (Terrance Howard). 

The 37-year-old sported a police officer's uniform in the snap, which he captioned: 'This could get interesting..... #empireseason2.'

That same day fans were treated to the first trailer for the upcoming season, which showed how the tables have turned, as Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) sat at the prison, waiting for her visit with Lucious. 

Those who watched the season one finale will know the rapper turned Empire records founder is facing charges for murder. 

It seems Ludacris will be joining the fallen mogul as a guard - or perhaps an ally? - as Lucious did promise, from his jail cell at the end of the season one finale, that it was 'game time.'

Either way, the Furious 7 star joins the ever-growing list of famous faces set to join this upcoming season.

According to E! News, Alicia Keys and Lenny Kravitz will also be guest starring, though there are no details on their roles yet. 

Meanwhile, Magic Mike XXL hunk Adam Rodriguez is set to play a love interest for Cookie, while Tyra Ferrell and The Wire star Andre Royo will play lawyers. 

The second season of Empire premieres Wednesday, September 23...

So close but yet so far away... I'm thinking starting a countdown for 'Empire S2' and '5candal'.
