Twitter DOUBLES Its Character Limit & People Have A LOT Of Feelings...

Twitter has debuted a new character limit this morning: 280 characters, DOUBLE the original 140 character limit and of course, the twitterverse and celebs are reacting.

It's a little unclear who got access to the new limit, but celebs started immediately tweeting out their opinions, with twitter queen Chrissy teigen admitting straight out
"literally my only talent was being able to think of tweets exactly 140 characters long. i don't know if I will be able to alter this to 280."
Ellen DeGeneres of course contributed her usual humor to debacle, tweeting out "I’m so excited to be part of @Twitter’s #280characters rollout. Let me just say it’s an honor and a privilege. I’d like to thank my wonderf"
And even Kermit the Frog got in on the joke with this tweet: 280 characters? Now @Twitter almost has as many characters as #TheMuppets
Assigning the new limit to accounts was done at random, and the users who were surprise beneficiaries showed their new found ability in some rather interesting ways, including this tweet from Lenovo the computer company: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Of course, one of the main conversations that celebs were getting in on around the limit increase was about the Tweeter-in-Chief of the United States, with Alyssa Milano tweeting out https://twitter.com/Alyssa_Milano/sta...
"A small group can now tweet 280 characters instead of 140.
Let's hope Trump is NOT a member of this small group."
Stephen Colbert added
"And in one stroke, Twitter doubles the complexity of our nation's foreign policy."
Jamelle bouie tweeted out the following:
“hey twitter, could you do something to stop trump from starting a war on here?” twitter: “what if we gave him…longer tweets?”
And Mara Wilson, of Matilda fame, expressed hwo she felt about NOT being a part of the test group by saying
".@jack @twitter Did I not get the 280 characters because I keep tweeting at you guys about Nazis and averting nuclear war" Well, it certainly seems like most people aren’t exactly excited about the new limit, but a silver lining we’ve found? Double the celebrity mean tweets on Jimmy Kimmel!
Well, what do you think about the new twitter limit? Awful or Awesome?
