Chelsea sign Marcos Alonso...

Chelsea have completed the signing of Marcos Alonso from Fiorentina as confirmed by the Italian club. 
The 25-year-old Spanish left-back is the first defender signed by Antonio Conte  following the recruitment of a forward, a midfielder and a goalkeeper to his squad. 
He has signed a five-year contract.

Gov. Wike suspends 4 commissioners, others...

Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers has suspended four commissioners, Head of Service and Special Adviser on Lands for three months.
Special Assistant to the Governor on Electronic Media Simeon Nwakaudu, announced this in a statement in Port Harcourt. 
The governor did not, however, state the reason for the suspension in the statement. 
According to Nwakaudu, the affected commissioners are Dr John Bazia, Chieftaincy Affairs, Mrs Tonye Briggs-Oniyide; Culture and Tourism, Fred Kpakol; Finance and Mr Boma Iyaye; Sports. 
He said the Head of Service, Mr Rufus Godwin and Mr Anugbun Onuoha, Special Adviser on Lands were also affected by the suspension.(NAN)

DSS arrests mastermind of Yobe school attack...

The Department of State Services, DSS, has recorded a major victory in its fight against crime and criminality in the country as it announced yesterday that it arrested one Mudaisiru Jibrin, aka Namakele Alarama, for msterminding the killing of students of Government Secondary School, Yobe, in 2013.

On Sunday night,In cold blood,gunmen suspected to be herdsmen killed one Pastor Luka Ubangari of Redeemed Christian Church of God at Shawa village, near Godogodo, in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Ubangari was said to have been ambushed, shot and killed while returning from evangelism to Golkofa village.
The incident occurred few days after Governor Nasir El-Rufai condemned incessant herdsmen killings during his visit to the area.
El-Rufai had described the killings as ‘senseless’ and promised that perpetrators are arrested and punished.

Nigerian Troops kill three kidnappers in Bauchi...

Troops of 33 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have killed three armed kidnappers and destroyed their camps in Bauchi State.
A statement by Col. Sani Usman, the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, said the troops also recovered arms and ammunition.
According to him, the troops would continue to carry out such clearance operations in all known hideouts of kidnappers and armed bandits within Bauchi and other states “to deny criminal elements freedom of action”.

Boko Haram ‘spiritual’ leader in Kano arrested by DSS...

On Monday, The Department of State Services disclosed that it has arrested one Mudahsiru Jibrin, who it described as the spiritual leader of Boko Haram cell in Kano.
It claimed that preliminary investigation conducted revealed that the suspect was also the mastermind of the shooting of some students at Government Secondary School , Mamudo village near Potiskum, Yobe State, in 2013.
