Funds released by FG for mobilization of 2016 Batch A, stream II corps members...

The Federal Government, on Tuesday, ordered the immediate release of funds for the mobilization exercise of the 2016 Batch A, stream II service year.

This followed the outcry by the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps(NYSC), Brigadier General, Sule Kazaure that lack of funds might stall the exercise if nothing is urgently done. While appearing before the Senate Committee on Youth and Sport On Monday, Kazaure said all the affected corps members are to remain in their various homes due to non-availability of fund arising from N13billion shortfall in the agency’s 2016 budget. Consequently the government intervened, approved and subsequently released funds to accommodate the 2016 Batch A stream 11 orientation course. Reacting to this, the NYSC in a statement signed by its Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs Abosede Aderibigbe, on Tuesday, in Abuja, commended the efforts of the Federal Government for its prompt intervention, approval and release of funds to accommodate the corps members.
The statement reads: “Management also wishes to use this medium to inform and assure prospective corps members, parents, guardian and the general public that the 2016 Batch A stream II orientation course holds as scheduled from Saturday, May 21 to Monday, June 6, 2016 while the swearing in ceremony of the 2016 Batch A stream II corps members holds on Monday, May 23, 2016. “Prospective corps members are by this notice directed to print their call up letters online and collect from their various institutions of graduation.”
