Former governor Akpabio involved in car crash today in Abuja

 

Former Akwa Ibom state governor, Senator Godswill Akpabio was involved in a car crash today in Abuja after his car crashed into other vehicles along Bolingo Junction close to Ship House in Abuja. Akpabio sustained injuries on his chest and was admitted in the Trauma ward in the National Hospital Abuja where he is currently receiving treatment.According to His family members and associates who have been to the hospital to visit him. He is said to be responding well to treatment.

The Psquare Boys involved in a car crash

Singing duo Psquare was involved in a car crash today.Peter Okoye one of the members of the duo made the announce on his Instagram.
Thankfully nobody was injured. Thank God! I for just faint. Praise Jesus.
 He shared a picture of the car with the caption:

'pls help us thank God. Myself  @rudeboypsquare @papiijameh and our assistant manager @wandoskie had an  accident early hours of today on our way back from a show in ibadan. 7 die in Kaduna Air Force plane crash

A light military plane, Dornier 2k,  has   crashed in Kaduna with all seven on board feared dead.
The plane, which took off   from Dana Airport, operated by the Nigeria Air Force, NAF, in Kaduna, came down some minutes after at the Kantoma Army Barracks, otherwise known as the NDA Barracks, around 6. 45 am.
At the time of this report, all movement into and outside the barracks  was barred.
But a top military brass in Kaduna, who spoke shortly after leaving the scene of the accident, said all on board perished.

Fani-Kayode accuses President Buhari.

Former Aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode as expected has reacted to the latest appointments made by President Muhammadu Buhari, which favoured only the North.
Buhari’s appointment of SGF and other principal positions on Thursday have continued to receive major backlash across the country, surprisingly even within his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Reacting to the development, Fani-Kayode, who served as the Peoples Democratic Party’s spokesperson during the last presidential elections said his  not surprised because he had predicted such actions but that Nigerians insulted and lampooned him.
He wrote on his Facebook page:

NUEE threatens strike

THE National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) has threatened to embark on industrial ac­tion if the management of the Port Harcourt Elec­tricity Distribution Com­pany (PEDC) does not implement the agreement reached with the union.
The Assistant National Sec­retary of the union, Mr. Akoh Cyprian Ndubuisi, warned the power com­pany to henceforth, stop its anti- labour activities and immediately recall the 43 Distribution System Operators, who were arbi­trarily dismissed without due process and to put an end to the causalisation of workers.

The National Universities Commission recently released a list of illegal degree awarding institutions operating in Nigeria.

The list of these illegal universities was made available to the public in a NUC’s weekly bulletin dated August 24.

In the bulletin, the NUC Executive secretary, Julius Okojie, warned that Certificates obtained from these universities and colleges will not be recognized for the purpose of NYSC, employment and further studies."

DPR clamps down on 87 erring marketers in Lagos, environs

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), says it has sanctioned 87 erring marketers over various offences in Lagos and its environs. A statement signed by its management said on Monday in Lagos that 67 retail outlets, operating without storage and sale licences or approval to construct a filling station, were also clamped down from Aug. 3 to date.

“In a routine week-long surveillance operations of retail outlets in the Lagos Zonal operations of the Department of Petroleum Resources, we visited 90 petrol filling stations.

Dangote gains N15.6bn in 24 hours, now worth N3tn

While some of the world’s richest people lost a sum of $182bn (N35.85tn) over the past week, Nigerian billionaire, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, and 10 others made money amid deepening global market rout.

Dangote, who is President of Dangote Group, posted a $79.2m (N15.6bn) gain from Thursday to Friday, according to Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index. He was one of six billionaires who saw their fortunes increase in 24 hours to Friday.

The world’s 400 richest people lost $182bn last week from their collective fortunes as weak manufacturing data from China and a rout in commodities sent global markets plunging.

Enugu tribunal upholds Ugwuanyi’s election

The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Enugu yesterday affirmed the election of Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as the gov­ernor of Enugu State.
The candidate of the All Progres­sives Congress (APC), Chief Okey Ezea in the April 11, 2015 guberna­torial election in the state filed a petition at the tribunal challenging Ug­wuanyi’s election.
But the tribunal yesterday struck out his petition, saying that it was frivolous, against court processes, and, therefore, lacked merit.
As soon as the judgment was deliv­ered, thousands of the governor’s sup­porters who had thronged the Enugu State High Court premises venue of the tribunal sitting went into wild jubila­tion while Ugwuanyi who arrived from Abuja hit the streets of the metropolis with the local government chairmen to celebrate and thank the people for the victory.

This is the shocking moment when a vintage Hawker Hunter jet smashed into the A27 in Shoreham during an airshow display on Saturday afternoon.

Seven people were killed on the ground after the former RAF jet pilot, named locally as Andy Hill, crashed into a Daimler wedding limo that was on its way to pick up a bride and groom around 1.30pm. 

Miraculously, the pilot, who flies for British Airways, was pulled from the flaming wreckage of his jet and flown by air ambulance to hospital. He is currently in a critical condition.

South East Coast Ambulance Service confirmed that seven people died in the crash, 14 were injured, with four of them taken to hospital. 

Footage has emerged showing the single-seater 1950s jet hurtling towards the ground before it exploded into a massive ball of flames and smoke.

Rivers State Governorship Poll: Tribunal Declines A.P.C's Petition Request

  

           

Apparently the petition filed in by the Governorship Candidate of the APC Dakuku Peterside demanding the transfer of all Electoral materials that was used during the April 11 gubernatorial elections in Rivers State to Tribunal in Abuja for inspection was declined Wednesday August 19th.
