Ex-SGF, Olu Falae kidnapped,Abductors ask for #100m ransom...

The abductors of Chief Olu Falae that was abducted at about 1pm and by 3.20pm, have demanded for N100m as ransom before they will consider freeing him from their captivity.
The Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation SGF and chieftain of the Afenifere, Chief Samuel Oluyemisi Falae Monday received the shock of his life on his 77th birthday as gunmen numbering over 20 invaded his farm in Ilado village, Akure north area of Ondo state and kidnapped him‎.

First thing i asked myself after reading this was, 100m from where?

Federal Government declares Thursday & Friday public holiday for Id-El-Kabir celebration

Yaaaaay lazy day came early. Apparently there is Public Holiday on Thursday and Friday. The Federal government has declared Thursday September 24th and Friday September 25th as public holiday to mark this year's Id-El-Kabir celebration. The announcement was made in a statement by the Director of Press, Ministry of Interior, Yusuf Isiaka Alhaji on behalf of the Ministry's Permanent Secretary Abubakar Magaji.

I don't even understand why I'm happy oh. haha...

Nigeria’s Consul-General to Saudi Arabia Ahmed Umar said on Sunday that the six Nigerian Pilgrims who died in the Sept. 11 crane crash in Mecca had been laid to rest.
While Briefing newsmen in Jeddah, he said the bodies were buried on Sept. 18, in a “specially designated cemetery’’ in Mecca, where all victims of the crash were also buried.
The consul-general, who led a delegation of the consulate and National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) at the burial, said the bodies were buried after receiving invitation of the Saudi Authority.

At least five people were killed in a suicide bomb attack on Sunday in the northern Cameroon town of Mora, military sources said, in what appeared to be the latest cross-border attack by Nigeria's Boko Haram Islamist militant group.

The dead included a police officer, two civilians and the two female suicide bombers, who detonated themselves at around 8 a.m. (0700 GMT) in the Galdi neighborhood near the entrance to the town.

The highly anticipated wedding between Penny and Leonard is about to go off on the Big Bang Theory...

I watch alot of TV Series and 'The Bag Bang Theory' is one of my all time favorite. The series will make you see nerds in a different way. Like in a different cool way. At end of season7 Penny and Leonard were on their to Vegas to get married but and Amy broke up with Sheldon. I actually thought that they weren't gonna go through with the wedding. Apparently i thought wrong. You see, Apparently ...

8 Boko Haram members surrender to army

Eight suspected Boko Haram terrorists on Saturday surrendered to troops of 21 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, the army said.

In A statement by army spokesman, Sani Usman, said the suspected insurgents were being investigated and screened for more information.

He also said the army had also apprehended another person whose arm was chopped off by the terrorists on the suspicion of theft.

Chief Obafemi Awolowo, leader of the banned Action Group and leader of the Yorubas of western Nigeria, was born on March 6, 1909. Son of a farmer and self made man, Chief Awolowo was educated at Anglican and Methodist schools in Ikenne, his home town, and at Baptist Boys' High School in Abeokuta, Western Nigeria. His education being curtailed from lack of money, Chief Awolowo worked as a pupil teacher and then went to Wesley College in Ibadan, the then capital city of Western Nigeria, to attend a course in teacher training. Leaving Wesley College, he studied shorthand and typing, and after working for a while in Lagos, returned to Wesley College in 1932 as a clerk.

Chief (Mrs) Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo, the matriarch of the Awolowo family and wife of late Obafemi Awolowo died on Saturday September 19th. She passed on in her sleep in her country home in Ikenne, Ogun state. She was 99years old,She would have been 100 years on the 25th of November. She was born on November 25, 1915. May her soul rest in peace, Amen.

Edo State's First Lady Lara Oshiomhole donates N2m, clothes, books to IDPs

Mrs Iara Oshiomhole, wife of Edo State Governor, presents some items to Internally Displaced Persons at the IDP Camp in Uhogua, Benin City Edo State, during the Governor's wife's visit to the camp, on Friday.

The Wife of Edo State Governor, Mrs. Lara Oshiomhole, has donated the sum of N2 million, on behalf of the Benin state government, for the upkeep of the Internally Displaced Persons at their camp in Uhogua near Benin City, Edo State.
The Governor’s wife paid a courtesy visit to the camp, on Friday, also presented items, including clothes, footwear, books, toiletries and other materials running into millions of naira to the IDPS.
She said the state would do everything possible to make life as comfortable as possible for persons in the camp.

Up until this week when i read about Tyra's pregnancy struggle i thought that she had a kid. Do you guys remember this photo of her that year. A young man was almost beaten to death in the Ikeja area of Lagos state when he was caught by residents vandalizing some private properties.

According to an eyewitness, the thief usually came to Ikeja to steal every night. He was however unlucky this morning when residents of the area caught him and nearly lynched him to death.

A 103-year-old Genora Hamm Biggs was banned from a church she attended for more than 90 years after disagreeing with the pastor's preaching style. After repeatedly criticizing Rev. Tim Mattox of Union Grove Baptist Church in Elberton, Ga., Biggs received a letter stating that her membership was revoked. When she tried to attend, the police were called on her. Biggs has been attending the church since she was 11 years old and served as its secretary for 40 years. Biggs says she's hoping a lawyer can resolve the dispute, but until then, she plans to return each Sunday.

The kidnappers dropped Mrs. Toyin Nwosu off near Zenith Bank by Festac bridge and sped off in a boat.
It was on Monday Morning that Gunmen stormed Bale Street in Ogundiaro Bashorun Sunmonu Akanwo Estate, Okota at about 1a.m.I heard word on the street that they gained entrance into a building close to Nwosu’s house with the aid of an abandoned ladder used to paint the building.
They stormed Nwosu’s bungalow building by scaling the transformer fence and pulled the burglar-proof on the window, before gaining entrance into the sitting room. All this happened in 30mins.

Thank God she has been released. The Kidnappers initially asked for a ransom of 100 million naira before they would release Mrs. Nwosu. I can neither deny nor confirm if the money was paid...

Dickson’s aide resigns over non-payment of salaries

Senior Special Assistant to Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State on non-indigenes, Chief Chinedu Mba, has resigned his appointment.
Mba, who is the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Association of Non-Indigene in Bayelsa State (ANBS) and played a key role in the governor’s victory in the 2012 poll, hinged his decision on non-payment of his salaries and allowances for over a year.
Mba in his letter of resignation said he faced intimidation, oppression and unfair treatments in the over three years he served the governor.
