Life as we know it

Hello lovelies 

      A friend of my family passed away yesterday at the age of 20. Doctors said it was malaria. Which got me thinking nobody is bigger than death. Nobody knows when they will leave this earth so my advice to everyone who will read this is to please live a good life. Be nice and kind to everybody no matter how un-nice they are to you. Because you really have no idea of when you will leave this earth. Because after death comes judgement. 

    

D willies as he was fondly called by my brother and he's friends would be remembered for making people laugh and for being kind , the few times I spoke with him he was nothing but respectful to me, he was a polite young man and he will always be remembered by those who loved him. I hope and wish that he made peace with God and was able to give he's life to christ in he's final moments on earth. It's really sad and painful to loose such a good guy at this tender age. He will never graduate from school? Haaaa!!! 

       God knows best! I'm actually very sad because I knew him. I can only imagine what he's folks will be going through right now. The heart break they must feel. No mother should have to bury her child...Our thoughts and prayers are with he's family. This loss is huge. D willies was a good boy!! 

RIP "Williams Dyke". I hope your in a better place now. Rest in the bossom of the almighty. God knows best, 

Hmm God knows best. It's actually very sad! But God knows best...

This should be a wake up call for every one of us. Malaria is a deadly disease that can actually kill when not treated. Make sure you treat for malaria after every six months. Mom give you kids malaria prevention medication, adults as well treat for malaria as well. Keep your environment clean, shut your doors at night , fumigate every month and also love God and pray for he's divine protection.

Election season ; 2015 election

So apparently it's almost election season and I'm going to review president Jonathan's reign and how far he has come. I actually wonder to myself why most politicians from the part of town have bluntly refused to support him! Even if the north turn there back against him at least let the people from this side of town not . First he deserves to rule he's second tenure which up until now I turn it was only right. Is it that they haven't thought of it this way???? It's he's time to rule so maybe after the next four years he can move on with he's life. He hasnt done much but atleast he's done a little. Some people might say he can't rule because he can't find a solution to the crisis we face now. But let us face we all know deep down that the so called crisis are a couple of conspiracy theories. I'm sure if he steps down all the crisis will die down. That been said , have u registered to vote??? Where will u press your hand? I'm supporting PDP sha... 

        Let's all come out and vote for President Jonathan. Be your brothers keeper. 

Did u know???? Under president Jonathan Nissan ,Hyundai ,Kia and innoson now build cars in Nigeria and the presidency patronizes them as official cars... And u say he hasn't done anything ??? If this isn't patriotic and setting an example then I don't know what is...

Shopping for a wedding dress part 2

So yesterday I posted a few tips u need to have in mind before you go wedding dress shopping (Check previous posts)

Here are a few more tips you need to have in mind, 

Go with your bridal "gut" u could try a lot of dresses that look good but they might not make you feel like a bride. When you find the right one, you will have a feeling of not wanting to take it off. It will make you beautiful, calm, grown up and ready to on this wedding! 

Dress up: pretend like your going on a romantic date with a guy your ready to take things to the next level with *wink*  wear cute underwear and make sure to do your make up and hair for the full effect. There's nothing less bride-ish than un-kept hair and granny panties!

Trending: capes

So it's been a while since I last did a trending segment. So today on what's trending in fashion is "capes" Yh. Boleros are out and capes are in! A lot of people use the bolero to cover there shoulder when they are wearing a revealing outfit and I've always seen it as a lot of work. Having to hold it all the time so they don't fall. It always appears so beautiful but.... Capes compliment an outfit makes u look more stylish and it's comfy. I'm so in love with this trend. So boleros are out capes in.

So what do you think of this trend? Yasss of make it stop? Hit or miss???? 😁

Shopping for a wedding dress

Ok lovelies , on to the next. So in the next few days I will tell u a few things you need to have in mind before going wedding dress shopping. So stayed tuned... 

* Learn the style terms to level the dress playing field:  Wedding dresses have their own names for necklines, hemlines,shirt fits.

*Know what looks good on you: I've seen quite a number of wedding dresses online, as I scroll through Instagram, etc I'm still not sure of what kind of wedding dress I'll wear on my big day, mainly because there are so many beautiful options. So that's why it's advice able you do your research and choose the dress you will be more comfy in. I won't advice anyone to wear a sleeveless or tube wedding dress! That It's you wedding day don't mean your not human. U will still sweat and raising your arm Up? ... I'm sure you know what I'm trying to say #lipsealed#. So have in my the type of dress you will be most comfortable and appear chic and hot in. 

*Go for an experienced! This is one of the few times in your life that you're allowed to be vain . I'm sure I will choose the best wedding dress *wink* one of a kind,custom made.  When going wedding dress shopping go along with you a few of your friends that know fashion if possible go with your brother so he can answer from a mans point of view. 

 I know I will go wedding dress shopping with my kid bro sha. 

    If u have searched far and wide and you still haven't seen the wedding dress you like then I advice you consider a custom made dress. Meet a very good fashion designer and have them make your custom made dress that reflects your personal style .

What to DIY & what to leave to the professionals at your event

So you have an event coming up birthday, wedding , dinner party, end of year party any shindig at all... Then u need to read through this series. So in the previous post I talked about catering. Why you need a caterer to cater at your wedding /event instead of having to do the cooking yourself or even taking a recommendation from mommy. But I think in most traditional/ engagement ceremony its the right of the brides mom to do the cooking. So if it's that way in the part of country your from then please respect tradition and stick to using a caterer. But for the white wedding employ the services of a pro and one major reason why i would rather use a caterer is because i won't have to bother my head about doing dishes after everyone has left. 😁 

Ok so back to business. Here's another aspect you need a professional to cover.  

Leave to the professionals 

MUSIC; Its actually inexpensive and easy to make a playlist , like seriously it's the easiest, every smart phone has that option in the music player where you can create one, and simply provide the music for your event  in that fashion . But a band or DJ has a presence, and is there for the opportunity to add another level layer of warmth, personality, and hospitality to your wedding. They can take special requests, set the pace of the event , and change the music they are playing based on the mood of the guests and that special playlist you created won't do it. It's actually impossible for the couple to apply the DIY technique when it comes to music . What will they do? Like leave there table to go change the song ? Hiring DJ's don't even cost so much. So it's non- negotiable hire a professional live band or Dj to provide music on that day!  😁

    Please note it's actually possible for you to make a list of the songs u want the Dj to play or live band to perform.

What to DIY at your weddings and to leave to the pros

So if your just joining us , we have been on a particular topic the past few days. Go through my previous posts and read up. Hope your up to speed now? So welcome! Here's another aspect of your event that you should leave to the professionals... 

 Leave to the professionals;

Food; I've notice one thing about the weddings I attend and it's the rate at which people complain about the food. Like a wedding I attended a few months ago we couldn't stop complaining about the food. It was crap and u know how most of us go to weddings on an stomach with hopes that we'll eat there and end up getting disappointed? Cos of the crappy food they served. Most of this mistakes happen cos of maybe the brides mom and her many recommendations. Her meeting women can cook the food and blah blah blah

  People love to rave about a good meal, and love to complain about a bad one. So while asking your mom to cook that your favorite meal or considering making part or all of the meal yourself might seem like a way to make things personal and save some money, the food is really best left to a caterer. A caterer will know what sorts of foods are appropriate for which events, what time to serve different  courses, how to combine you and your partner's different tastes , how to accommodate guests with dietary needs or restrictions , and how to cook on a large scale for an event with many guests. Take some time to sample different caterers, foods, peruse their menus and package offerings, and seek out reviews from your friends, relatives etc. Dont get me wrong it's ok if you want to do the cooking yourself but it's a lot of work and having your relatives do it isn't a good idea either. It's better u hire a caterer that does the cooking thing as a job because they are more experienced and all about customer service. You find that whenever relatives do the cooking at an event they are not professionals , they end up disturbing the brides friends to help them serve food, they usually arrive late, they also hoard the food. Hiring a pro is the best way to go they come with waiters and waitresses, they don't add any sentiment while working. 

 Please note as a bride to be after you engaged thefirst thing to do is call your family and give them the great news that's if they weren't at the venue of the proposal and second thing to do is make a list. A list of everything and anything u want at your wedding. From wedding themes, season, your dress, bridal train, colors of the day, venues you will like to use etc. call up an event planner as well. Because whether you like it or not ,you can't do it all by yourself or else your a wedding planner.

LEAVE TO THE PROFESSIONALS

Photography: These days everyone knows someone with a quality camera  and a good eye. But before you agree to let your mom's friend or your neighbor take the photos of your big day, remember that there are advantages to hiring a photographer. A professional might not know anyone at the event so won't be socializing and potentially miss important moments. A photographer will also understand where the lighting is best, what time of the day is best for different kinds of shots, and will think to get different shots that a family friend might not consider. Your wedding photos will be something you treasure for years to come, so consider spending some money to hire the best at the job. Most make up artists give good recommendations because they use photographers all the time.But that  Don't mean you go hiring a make up artist that's a photographer on the side. Please don't! Or better yet if your using a wedding planner then your covered. It's advice able to have the photographer come with at least three of he's associates, one will be with the groom, one will be with the bride and the other will be at the church and will rush off to the reception venue to take pictures of the reception hall while it's less rowdy. While the photographers with the couple will make sure they capture every special and eye watering moments.

Oh and by the way ;while hiring a photographer for your wedding make sure u fix a pre-wedding photoshoot that will collide with your make up trial. This way you will have a glimpse of what you will look like on the big day.

A professional vows to dedicate themselves to making sure you and your fiancé are happy, that the event will look as good in real life as it does in your head, and that no one gets lost or goes hungry. Having a DIY wedding is fun and fantastic , but a day-of planner will allow you to be stress-free the day of your event and truly experience your wedding.

Woman Crush Wednesday ; episode 4

Hello hello, how Ona dey? Country people ? so it's woman crush Wednesday and I'm sure some of you already guessed it in your head who today's wcw will be! Well I hate to keep people in suspense I will just say it.

     

    It's Oprah Winfrey . 

   

   Quick back story about me I love powerful hard working women I think it has a lot to do with the way I was raised. My parents taught us how to be independent and we all know what being independent means that's what has kept me and my siblings going the past few years since we lost our parents. They taught us a lot while growing up even if they arent around anymore the short time they spent we us we can never forget. Because they made us who we are together, being independent and content with what we have. 

   Back to Oprah;

     

   Oprah Winfrey will forever be remembered as an innovator through the landmarks she made, becoming the first African American to host a tv show. Inspiring millions of people across the world. Discussing issues on how her show such as equal rights toward genders, racism, poverty, as an icon someone who paved the way for others to become successful.

         I admire her for a lot of things she is a strong woman, shes generous, she's kind hearted ,shes a good person, she works so hard and gives back to the society. Even if she had a bad childhood she was able to rise above and start all over. She has made it in life as the first African American to host a popular TV show she actually paved the way for some talk show run by African Americans, shes an inspiration to us all. That's why Oprah is my wcw today. 

Did you guys know?!! Oprah Winfrey has one thing in common with the  late president Mandela of South Africa,Don't get me wrong! What I'm trying to say is she has featured 99.9% of the celebrities In world , just like almost all the celebrities have visited late president Mandela (God rest he's soul) . Doubt it? Ask my friend Google...

What to DIY , day10

12 days of Christmas series is almost coming to an end just two days left. Hope I was able to help a lot of brides out there in the planning of there wedding! So on the 10 day of Christmas I'm pleased to share with u another aspect of a wedding that a bride should DIY. 

Drinks: when making a list for the kind of drinks u want at your wedding make it simple  being a DIY bride is all about saving cost. There are some delicious sparkling wines available for a fraction of the cost of champagne. Get some favorite beers and wine, but don't break the bank: Design a signature cocktail for the wedding? and create your own "base" to have on hand- DIY sours , cosmopolitan mix, or infused vodka for example. Not only will you have fun designing the drink, but guests will remember it, and you won't have to buy liquors and mixers for tons of different drinks. Please note all u have to do is design the drink and write the recipe down. Then put someone in charge of the cocktail bar that day. Maybe your friend or relative. Brides to this a DIY task

 Did u know? 

Champagnes- Are for toast and celebrations?! 

Wines are for eating

And beers are for parties,clubbing etc.

  

Where I'm from we toast with everything beer,wine,mineral, champ man even water it's the funniest thing but then again it ain't nobody's biness...

What to DIY at your wedding and what to leave to the professionals: part3

Hello hello, so still on the 12days of Christmas series and so on the 9th day of Christmas I'm sharing with you Flowers and CentrePieces.  This is a continuation of what to DIY at your wedding and what to leave to the pros. That been said ...

 Flowers and CentrePieces: I'm sure you brides out there don't care about details like this most brides in my country tho because we don't even care about flowers. Who has the time to notice? Heck! I don't even notice it but part of a beautiful wedding decor is the centerpiece and flowers, we don't have a lot of florists in nigeria maybe is because we don't really find flowers interesting but the few florists I've heard of charge amazing fees to create beautiful wedding floral arrangements and centerpieces for weddings and it's common among brides abroad to care about floral arrangement, i still have a maj hangover from kim k west's wedding that's by far the most beautiful floral arrangement I've seen in my entire life. But with little creativity ,you can create your own for less and with much more of a personal,handmade flair. I know it sounds like a lot of work but it can be done! You know I said in some previous posts nobody says Nooo to a bride to be. Call a few friends to help you. You can save cost this way. A DIY bride can handle this but to reduce the stress have your wedding planner take care of this aspect. We all love the look and price tag of artificial flowers, set in a simple vase of jar and accented with a twine. If you're looking for where to buy flowers u might as well consider heading to the grocery store(abroad) brides in ph Nigerian there is florist directly opposite the liberation stadium in port harcourt rivers state as a matter of fact getting flowers are quite easy. Buy or pick up as much as you can and split them up into several different vases. Smaller,simple arrangements are easy to put together yourself,cost less and add a laid back feel to the event. It's actually advice able to the leave this floral arrangements to the pros but make sure u specify to your wedding planner or wedding decor coordinator so that way they will add all that to the reception. It's actually stressful to arrange your flowers yourself and we all know that stress isn't good for the bride. So it's up to you with this particular task DIY or pros? 

PS;if you have flower alergies please stick to artificial flowers. 

When planning your wedding make sure you incoporate a lot of fun ideas and hobbies and details your not doing this to impress anyone a lot of people won't even notice. Do it for yourself so when u want to reminisce about your wedding day you will always be happy cos of those lil activities you added that made it your own!

1.Know the difference between NEEDS and WANTS?

If you listen to your WANTS you will sink!!!

 You Should know what do you need or else you will end up buying a-lot if you follow your want instinct and many of them will remain un-used later. Suppose you have eye liner but you want to buy the same type of eye liner of different brand, in such case there will be a clash of particular product instead if you really wanna try, pin it to your Next buy list and get it once the particular product gets over. In this case you will save your money in the best possible way.
Now since you know what you really need, it's easier for you to shop.

2.Knowledge

Have some knowledge about the products you want to buy as it will make it a lot easier to choose a product and also if you have extra knowledge to compare different brands for the same range of product that will be better and brings you many options and choices.

3.Google

Good Internet connection is all you need!!

Type in the product name you want to buy and add review on it and with no doubt there will be many reviews on the same products by various Beauty Bloggers. Read and Relate!!

4.Ask

ASK ASK ASK

I am sure there will be infinite questions running on to your veins and brains for the expensive product you will be purchasing. 12 days of Christmas series;How To Paint Your Nails Perfectly

  On the 7th day of Christmas I share with you;   Tip on how to paint your nails like a pro...

I personally believe nails are women's best accessory that doesn't go out of fashion other than that everything does right! Agree? and also it compliments your look to the next level. 

May be because i myself being nail paint obsessed, I've got different colors of nail polish at home..

I often paint it out of boundary but there are certain tips and tricks of painting nails so that it will make your nails look like a pro without putting so much of effort and expenses.

What you'll need?

1.Nail File

2.Petroleum jelly

3.Cotton-buds

4. Base-coat nail paint (Transparent nail-paint would do)

5.Colored Nail paint of your choice

Get the Parlor like manicure at home by following these simple steps!!

1.Shape your nails

Shape your nails using Nail File. Make sure you shape every nails uniformly so that it looks clean and pretty. (Round and Square are popularly used)

2.Prevent your nail area using Petroleum Jelly

Petroleum Jelly prevents skin from drying.

Evenly apply Petroleum Jelly on area around your nails using Cotton-Bud.

By using cotton-bud or cotton apply Petroleum Jelly like Vaseline on the skin around your nails first. This creates a barrier between the polish and your skin so that after you've painted your nails, you can wipe off the vaseline and any polish mistakes along with it and also it helps your skin from drying due to nail paints.

3.Base Coat

Base-Coat helps nail paint last longer.

Always apply Base coat before applying any colored nail paint because 

   *It will extend the life of your manicure.
   *It gives the polish an even surface to adhere to.
   *It will prevent dark colors from staining your nails after removing nail paints. (It prevents nails from looking yellow afterwards)

It's very important to invest on one Base Coat nail paint because it can be used every time you think of painting your nails. But if you don't have base coat with you for emergency purpose you can substitute it with applying Transparent nail paint and it will do 60% of what Base Coat does.

Let the base coat dry completely and then proceed to step 4.

4.Color your Nails

Apply the color nail paint of your choice. 

There are tricks to apply, follow me;

 -Cover the nail in three strokes
     1. Always begin from the center line, don't forget to brush it in upward direction.
     2. Paint it upward in left or right corner.
     3. Paint it in the remaining corner on the same upward direction.

Follow the steps now;

How to paint Nails perfectly.

                                                 
Tips
    -Apply polish starting at the bed of the nail, pulling the brush up.
    -Go for thinner texture at the beginning and later go for double or triple coating depending on how dark or bright color you want. 
    -Make your nail paint dry faster by soaking it in ice water after painting them or Spray non stick cooking spray on your nails to help dry it faster.

5.Top Coat

It is as important to apply the top coat as Base coat are..
Let the nail paint dry completely and once done apply Top Coat or Transparent nail paint to make it look more clean and attractive and also to make it stay for a longer period.

6.Clean the excess color

Dip your ear-bud or angled brush in polish remover and trace the edges of your cuticle to remove excess color.

And you are done!! Salon like manicure at home :) 

So what are you waiting for, follow the simple steps mentioned above and start painting your nails because plains are so boring ;) 

Personal advice: Invest on good nail polishes though they might be lil expensive but they are worth it, If you are running out of budget China glaze nail-polish are your must haves....

 

You know how you sit at home quietly and ask questions? Most are easily answered and soon forgotten but most of them u wait for the universe to answer

Wedding Crasher diaries!

Hello lovelies. So if u know me very well u will know that I don't like going out. But today was an exception I decided to crash a wedding. I said crash because I wasn't invited I just attended the wedding cos I was kind of bored. Was my elder sister's +1. And I wanted to launch my new wear wear. Hehe.

DAR: Daily Aproko Rundown; Khloe k and French m breakup again?

Khloe kardashian and French Montana just ended there relationship... Again???! Remember they broke up sometime in September, they tried to rekindle there romance (stupid thing to do). So a lil bird told me that the 30 year old Kuwtk star and French Montana are no longer dating. I hear they moved on. (Hope it's for real this time). Khloe and now ex boo French Montana first sparked Romance rumors back in spring when they were spotted spending time together. U remember she came to Africa with him(rookie mistake). During summer they enjoyed mutiple romantic vacations together (ewwa), including that trip to Las Vegas in June for her birthday weekend( glad they didn't get married in one of those famous chapels in Vegas). They also spent lots of time together in the hamptons. 

     After almost 8months of dating they split up in September. Khloe grew weary of french's "needy obsessive" behavior and slowly began distancing herself from him.

     Koko and French decided to give love a second try after the split and have been casually dating for the past few months . " we hanging out " koko recently admitted to e!news. " but I don't think there's a title or anything" "that's why it's to awkward to answer that question. " I don't know what to say anymore because people go up and down in relationships . Sometimes you are there and sometimes u are not" we've been having fun but there's nothing concrete ..

   Koko is single again and ready to mingle . 

    In my own honest opinion I wasn't a fan of the duo. They aren't a perfect match. He was obviously using her but we all know she was too blinded by love. Anyways good rediance.

12 days of Christmas Series : Day 5

Hello lovelies, so on the 5th day of Christmas I'm pleased to introduce a new segment on the blog. It's titled " That's not something u see everyday!". It'll be a segment where I post pictures of stuffs And things that I spot that i don't see daily. This particular segment will be on Fridays. 

     So today's and first that's not something u see everyday feature will be lady Gaga . Yasss o. U know she has the weirdest dress sense in the world when I saw this picture of her i just had to post it. Seeing lady Gaga dressed like a normal person is liking spotting a unicorn in the streets of port harcourt or even anywhere in the world. Pictures of lady Gaga after the cut...

What to DIY at your wedding and what to leave to the pros. Day3

Hello lovelies , we still on the 12 days of Christmas series and on the fourth day of Christmas I'm going to talk about dance lessons. So these days most couples don't dance at their wedding they just move left and right one of the reasons is they don't know how to and the other is they are shy. Shy? I'm sorry but why would u be too shy to bust out major dance moves on your wedding day, the happiest day of your life. Anyways I'd get back to that much later. 

       It's your wedding day and it's a once in a life time experience or else u get divorced but I think dance lessons is necessary because there will be a video of the wedding and I'm sure u don't want to watch the wedding video and regret because you didn't rock that your fav jam cos u don't know how to dance that's why u need dance lessons I know it sounds like a lot for an event that's just one day but I think it's necessary to have a fun wedding. Dance lessons cost little to nothing and isn't such a hard job cos u will have so much fun doing it. 

      Find a choreographer that knows all the trendy dance moves Azonta,alanta,shooki,waltz etc yass ooo make it your own fix a date that's convinient for everyone by everyone i mean your hubby to be,your bridal train, siblings ( maybe u want to have a group dance with them)and your dad I said dad because of the father daughter dance and maybe a few friends that u will love to dance with. I'm sure ur wondering is it free to find a choreographer? It sure is! We all have that one family member that loves to dance and I'm sure it's no charge on a friends and family discount flow which is free, u can ask that family friend to tutor u, u can also ask that dance group leader from church for a huge favor nobody says no to a bride to be, u can also check on YouTube for dance videos  or better yet a wedding planner comes with the dance lesson package. I know youtube involves Small money cos u need to subscribe but like my guy phinofino said "oweY Ihe di free even mana Freetown" I know it sounds like a lot of work but heck it's your big day and I'm sure u want it big and white like every girl dreams of. So why not go all the way have a fun and glamorous wedding?????! Hmmm?!
