Massive Fire torches Luxury Hotel In Dubai...

A huge fire has torched a high-rise hotel in central Dubai ahead of a New Year's Eve firework display.

Burning debris could be seen falling from the 300m-tall (1,000ft) building as firefighters tackled the blaze.

The display at the world's tallest skyscraper, the nearby Burj Khalifa, started as planned as midnight arrived in the Gulf state.

Officials say the fire is now under control and 16 people suffered mostly minor injures. The cause is not known.

Appeal Court reverses nullification of Gov Ishaku’s election

The Annulment of the Election of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate Governor Darius Ishaku's by the Taraba State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has be been reversed by the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja  of . In a unanimous judgment Thursday afternoon, the appellate court panel headed by Justice Justice Abdul Aboky, held that the tribunal acted outside its jurisdiction when it invalidated Ishaku’s election on the premise that he was not validly nominated by the PDP.

Federal Government declares Friday January 1st 2016 as Public Holiday...

This probably isn't news, i mean public Holiday on New Year Day is status quo.
Anyways, FG has declared tomorrow January 1 as public holiday to mark the 1st day of 2016.

The declaration was made on behalf of the Federal Government by the Minister of Interior, Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd).

He called on Nigerians, irrespective of their religious inclinations, to inculcate the spirit of the season as exemplified by love, joy and peaceful co-existence.

Dambazau also urged all Nigerians to continue to promote the unity of the country in its progress towards building a nation devoid of rancour and bitterness.

President Buhari has said that his government may ban the use of hijab by muslim women as a result of the use of female suicide bombers by Boko Haram insurgents.

He made this declaration during the presidential media chat.

“Hijab would have to be banned if suicide bombing continues,” noted  Buhari

Hijab is that veil that most Muslim women beyond the age of puberty use to cover their head and chest,  in the presence of adult males outside of their immediate family and, according to some interpretations, in the presence of adult non-Muslim females outside of their immediate family.

How did you spend your Christmas Holiday? 

Let me go first, I spent mine home just chilling, like literally! Full time chill, it was a routine. Home,Out (errands), Church and home again! Sounds Boring? But truth be told there is nothing else I'd rather be doing. 

But yesterday December 29th, I left town briefly! I visited my country home in Imo State. Yep! I'm actually from Imo State, but I don't speak my language but I'm learning. I'm even taking applications now. Anybody that will like to teach me how to speak ibo please signify by raising your hands. Anyways, this was actually my first trip outta Rivers State this year and despite the fact that i was in Imo state for my Uncle's burial, I tried to savor the moment. It felt good having someone else on the wheel that wasn't me!

Judge Datuk Wan Afrah Wan Ibrahim made the decision after she was satisfied that the prosecution has proven the case against the accused, whose identity was given as Ekene Collins Isaac, 37, beyond reasonable doubt.

Military and Boko Haram clash in Maiduguri...

Suspected members of the dreaded Boko Haram group were on Sunday evening involved in a shoot-out (Rambo Style) With Nigerian  military in Aladuwari,Borno State. 

The attackers arrived the area at about 6 p.m. local time.

Later on, two suicide bombers, believed to be females, detonated explosives near FOMWAN school in Jiddari area of Maiduguri.

Oladejo Makinde is dead,He was  the Minority Leader of  the Osun State House of Assembly,

The lawmaker who represents Ife Central Constituency died, Sunday afternoon, in a hospital in Ekiti state.

Mr Makinde, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the state died after a brief illness.

Late Makinde, popularly called ‘Igwe’ was a former chairman, Ife Central Local Government Area of the state.

He died as  a result of health complication.

FG to reduce Fuel Price from N87 to N85 starting 1st of January 2016...

The Minister of State for Petroleum,Ibe Kachikwu when he paid a courtesy visit to Port Harcourt Refinery Company on Christmas Day told journalists that from 1st January 2016 fuel price will drop from N87 to N85. Saying that, efforts were on to get the refinery to achieve 60% production capacity and to supply about 11 million liters of Petrol daily.

An industrial Gas plant exploded on Thursday in  Nnewi, Anambra State and burnt over 100 persons to death.

The explosion happened at the Inter Corp Oil limited(LPG Gas Plant), an subsidiary of Chikason Group.

I got Word on the street from an eyewitness ,that the fire incident that started at about 11am Thurday Morning, was caused by an explosion when a truck  was discharging its contents.

You may recall that we met on the set of ‘Politics Today’ in May of 2011 soon after I was interviewed by Deji Bademosi and just before you were interviewed.

The purpose of my letter to you today is in response to your statement made on Monday the 21st of December, 2015 in which you accused former President Goodluck Jonathan, whom I served as one of three spokesmen, of being responsible for the current excruciating fuel scarcity now subsisting in Nigeria.
