A recent study found that a third of women are disappointed by their other half's proposal - and is it any wonder with people like Justin Baldoni around?
The actor and director from Los Angeles was not content with just getting down on bended knee to ask his girlfriend Emily Foxler to spend the rest of her life with him.
Nor was he content with the increasingly-popular flash mob proposal, the obligatory Bruno Mars 'Marry Me' song or a video montage of their precious moments together.
On April 13, Justin told his girlfriend to go to the Blu Jam Cafe, where they had their first date, for a surprise.
Once she gets settled in the candlelit restaurant, Emily starts to watch a video which starts with her boyfriend explaining what is about to happen.
'I promise I'm not standing you up. It's the opposite of that,' Justin says in the clip. 'Baby I love you. I love you so freaking much. I love the s**t out of you.
I'm trying to propose. And, you know, my mind being the way it is I could think of a million different ways that I want to do it.
'But all I know is that I want it to be special and I want it to be romantic and I want it to be something that you never forget.'
Then the cheese-fest begins.
At five minutes 37 seconds in, Justin and his friends - clad in tight, white tank tops - are seen lip syncing to N'Sync, followed by Boyz II Men number 'I'll Make Love To You'.
Then they don wigs and dresses to perform a hilarious rendition of Abba's Dancing Queen.
Then comes the aforementioned flash mob dance to Bruno Mars' song at nine minutes 36 seconds, an activity that seems to be becoming the norm for marriage proposals these days.
The musical part is over and the drama begins as the video cuts to a spoof Mission Impossible-style movie trailer followed by a touching video montage of some of Emily and Justin's happy times together.
More than 17 minutes later and still no proposal, but finally Justin reaches Emily - not before greeting his family who have also been wheeled out for the special occasion.
By this time - 20 minutes later - Emily has been reduced to a sobbing mess as Justin declares his love for her (again).
'This is where it all started, you're the woman that's changed my life,' he tells her. 'I've never been happier, never been sadder, never been more angry. Life's never been more beautiful. You make me a better man.
'I knew from the moment I met you. I know you didn't but you came around and made me a better man in ever area - a better son, a better brother, a better friend.'
'I want to spend my life with you. You're it. I've never met anyone who has inspired me to be a better human being. I want to make you happy for the rest of your life.'
What happens at 22 minutes in may be the sweetest - or weirdest, depending on your level of cynicism - part of the whole proposal and the perfect finishing touch to the epic proposal.
Finally, at 22 minutes 40 seconds, Justin pops the big question, asking: 'Will you let me take care of you for the rest of your life? Will you let me be your husband? Will you start a family with me? Emily will you marry me?'
Of course Emily says yes - cue lots more crying, hugging and all-round schmaltzyness.
Cut to credits. And they lived happily ever after.
