Former Senate President, David Mark, has been declared as the winner of the February 20 Benue South Senatorial District Re-run election.The result was annouced by Prof.Ishaku Enigi for The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
David Mark polled a total of 84, 192 while his opponent, Daniel Onjeh had 71, 621 votes. Mark won in five local government areas while Onjeh won in four.

EFCC applies to seek court order to seize Tompolo’s assets

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Thursday (February 18, 2016) applied to a Federal High Court in Lagos for an order to seize some assets belonging to Tompolo, former Niger Delta militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, until when he will appear to answer charges of N45.9bn fraud preferred against him and nine others.

 The EFCC also urged the court to grant it an order to take over any other movable and immovable assets belonging to Tompolo.

Naira slumps to 391/dollar...

Alison Madueke's Husband interrogated by the EFCC...

 Rear Admiral Alison Madueke (retd.), His the husband of immediate past Minister of Petroleum Resources Diezani Alison Madueke. On Wednesday he honored the invitation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and was grilled for  hours at its head office in Abuja.

 Word on the street revealed that the interrogation of Madueke was as a result of the discovery of about $600,000 in his personal accounts.

However, He was said to have been released on administrative bail while his passport was seized by the anti-graft agency and was asked to return to the EFCC at a later date to answer more questions.

President Muhammadu on Monday approved the immediate disengagement of the Chief Executives of 26 parastatals and agencies of the Federal Government.

In a statement issued by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir David Lawal, issued  in Abuja on Monday,  the President also directed that the most senior officers in the organisations should oversee the activities of the agencies “pending the appointment of substantive CEOs.”

I'm sure by now it's no news that President Buhari is back from his leave, apparently he needed some rest after running a country for 9 months.

Anyways, his back. And he resumed work at the State House in Abuja, as expected he sent a letter to the senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara informing them of his return.
According to the statement, in compliance with Section 145 (1) of the Nigerian Constitution, President Buhari had sent a formal notice of his resumption to the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives. The President was on vacation from Feb. 5 to Feb. 10, 2016.

Hmm, the online scammers have discovered a new method of stealing from people.

Initially This BVN number thing had made it impossible for fraudsters to hack into any account and I'm guessing that's probably why they searched for a loop hole. They send you an email and ask you for your account details including your pin.

My friend Wendy almost entered their trap. They called her and asked for her account details and pin good thing she realized in time and stopped. So be very careful.

Talk about awkward, In an unexpected move by Ex President of Nigeria from way back when, Obasanjo who was accompanied by other prominent personalities dressed in his Yoruba regalia,literary prostrate on the floor for the present Ooni of Ife  as a sign of respect. 
I'm pretty  sure it was one awkward moment. 
The look on there faces says it all... But he actually got a few rounds of applause from the people that were able to contain the surprise in a matter of seconds.

Explosion rocks Benin, 2 injured...

An explosion in Benin, on Tuesday(Feb. 2) has destroyed about five houses in Sakponba area of Edo State capital city at about 3p.m(Nigerian Time).
Residents of Zomi Zomi Street in Upper Sakpoba claim that Boko Haram insurgents had invaded the city.
A  police source at the scene said:

Apparently EFCC is still shopping like it's a Black Friday sale for evidence to nail some top powers that be Nigerians who might have collected their own eye wey see money percentage from the $2.1 billion arms cash, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC turned upside down the Abuja office of former Vice President,  Namadi Sambo, and found $50,000 from his safe.
This raid happened over the weekend, in the building which houses a top European High Commission’s Visa Processing Centre opposite the National Defence College, Abuja, throwing some occupants into confusion.
Word on the street revealed that the operatives broke into the safe kept by the former vice president and removed whatever valuable they found, including top branded wrist watches, assets declaration forms, and list of landed property.
