Buhari okays Bage, Galinje as S-Court Justices;

President Muhammadu Buhari, has approved the appointment of Justices Sidi Dauda Bage, and Paul Adamu Galinje to the Supreme Court bench.

The approval followed recommendation by the National Judicial Council, NJC. 
A statement by the Acting Director of Information at the NJC, Mr. Soji Oye, disclosed that the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, will on Monday, swear-in the two new Justices of the apex court. 
The number of Justices on the Supreme Court had reduced to 13, following the retirement of the immediate past CJN, Justice Mahmud Mohammed and suspension of Justices Inyang Okoro and Sylvester Ngwuta. 
It will be recalled that Justices Okoro and Ngwuta were among seven superior court Judges who were arrested after “a sting operation” the Department of State Service, DSS, conducted between October 7 and 8. 
The NJC had asked both of them to step down from the bench pending the conclusion of investigations into their alleged involvement in acts of corruption. 
Whereas the Federal Government has slammed a 16-count criminal charge against Ngwuta, it had yet to prefer charges against Okoro.
Meantime, the elevation of the two new Justices will bring the number of jurists on the Supreme Court bench to 15.
