Kerry Washington reveals her Igbo Name

In a recent interview with InStyle Magazine, The scandal series star revealed her igbo name and the meaning.


Back story; Kerry Washington is married to a former Nfl player from Nigeria named Nnamdi.
 Nnamdi is just all kinds of handsome. 

Kerry Washington tied the knot with Nnamdi in a secret wedding. Nnamdi Asomugha who was born to Nigerian parents.

While speaking about her igbo name, She said:

Nnamdi's parents are Nigerian immigrants, he's father died when he was young. When you marry into the igbo culture, you get a new name. My name is ogechi. I wear it on a necklace my mother-in-law gave me.

She also explained the meaning of her daughter's name;

My daughter's name is "Isabelle Amarachi. Isabelle's is my grandmother's name. She was a badass. she'd be scowling if she knew i called her that' but she was an immigrant from Jamaica who raised seven children alone in the bronx. Isabelle's igbo name Amarachi, It means 'GOD'S GRACE'.
