It seems not a week goes by without a new ultra-luxury addition to airlines.
And now Air France has launched its own stylish suite for the super rich, in the form of a £6,000 first class 'boudoir'.
While Etihad may have the three-room 'suite in the sky' known as The Residence, Air France has introduced flying pods for its Boeing 777-300 planes, with Michelin-star food service, private wardrobe and wood, suede and tweed decor.
Passengers of the La Première Suites are served up caviar and foie gras, before retiring to a two-metre long single bed decorated with a 'boudoir' style cushion.
Designed to feel like a luxury hotel room, the pod is sealed off with a curtain for privacy and has the requisite 24-inch TV screen, stocked with more than 1,000 games, movies and television programmes, along with Bose noise-reducing headphones.
And the airline has engaged the chef with the most Michelin stars in the world, Joël Robuchon, to create the dishes served in-flight, along with other reputable chefs including Regis Marcon, Grand Véfour restaurant's Guy Martin, Michel Roth and Anne-Sophie Pic.
High-fliers will also receive an extravagant complimentary gift bag, which includes cosmetics from Givenchy, such as face and hand cream, lip balm and even anti-fatigue roll-on, to help
Air France launched the service last month with the AF254 flight from Paris-Charles de Gaulle to Singapore and Jakarta. It will be continued from this month for guests travelling to these destinations.
Frédéric Gagey, Chairman and CEO of Air France, said: 'With our new La Première suites, we intend to offer the best on the market and this is what we are highlighting today.
'By choosing to fly to South East Asia, we reaffirm just how important this part of the world is to us, especially to attract and retain our Premium customers.'
Life is good...
