A new innovations, known as e-collation, e-tracking and e-transmission, has been introduced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in order to make the registration process easier.
Hajiya Amina Zakari, INEC’s National Commissioner in charge of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara, made the announcement on Thursday in Sokoto. While speaking at the commencement of the continuous voter registration.
She disclosed that the introduction of the innovations was to make the continuous voter registration easier for the populace, especially those registering for the first time.
She re-stated that the registration was to update and validate the voters’ register in accordance with existing laws before the general elections.
The commissioner noted that a good and comprehensive register of voters would form the bedrock of any credible election process. She said that the current registration was for those who had turned age 18 years of age.
