On Monday, again A Federal High Court in Abuja, rejected Rivers State Governor Wike prayer seeking an order nullifying the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris’ letter ordering investigation into various acts of criminality committed during the December 10, 2016 re-run in the state.
Justice Gabriel Kolawole had earlier on January 16, denied an ex parte application by the governor seeking similar prayer.
Instead of granting the order, the judge ordered Wike to put the defendants on notice to enable them to defend their actions and show cause why the governor’s prayer should not be granted.
The two plaintiffs who filed the suit were the Office of the Governor of Rivers State (first plaintiff) and Wike in person (second plaintiff), while the defendants are the Inspector-General of Police, the Department of State Services and a Deputy Commissioner of Police, Damian Okoro.
