Fun fact: The Difference between supper and dinner..

Ok. So ???for as long as i can remember I've found myself making the mistake of calling dinner supper and supper dinner and a lot of people don't know the difference. U know why? It's because no1 thinks there's any difference. But there is as a matter of fact a huge difference. 

      I actually used to say supper was an early meal u eat before dinner but not necessarily as a matter of fact dinner is taken before supper. 

    In some countries dinner is considered an early meal that is eaten between 2pm and 5pm while supper is a later meal eaten between 7pm and 11pm ( dicey ? I know rii?) Apparently it's not true for all cultures and countries like in Nigeria. I see people having a dinner party at night I'm sure we can excuse everyone for now. I'm just finding out the difference today... 

      Dinner is a primary meal eaten before supper. And Supper is a primary meal eaten after dinner. Lunch can also replace dinner for many, however we have to remember that not all cultures dwell on a three meal per day schedule. 

     Looking at the root word of each meal u can infer a greater understanding.To sup is to eat a light meal. This could mean we sup a light breakfast or we sup a light evening snack before bed. To dine is to eat a heavier, primary meal of the day. That means if we are eating a heavy meal in the middle of the day we can call it dinner and also if our primary meal doesn't happen until evening we can call it dinner. Soooo in conclusion

      Dinner is eaten earlier

    - Supper is eaten later

     -Dinner is implied by country, culture and eating habits

    - supper is often referred to as a meal eaten after dark.

    - Worldwide in some countries people eat numerous times per day and eat dinner before supper as their second lunch 

    - When u dine u eat a heavier primary meal.

    - When u sup, you eat a lighter meal that isn't intended to be your primary meal. 

   - Everything from culture to region to personal interpretation defines how we refer to meals...
