The
governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers
State, Barrister Nyesom Wike has described the apology tendered by
Governor Rotimi Ameachi for his woeful performance as state chief
executive during his last pre-election state broadcast as another reason
why the people of the state are going to overwhelmingly elect him,
Wike, as the next governor of the state.
According to a statement
issued by the Special Assistant, Media, to Wike, Simeon Nwakaudu, the
Wike-Banigo PDP governorship ticket in Rivers State represents the
future of the state and the only platform to protect the resources of
the state from the predators already primed to further damage the state.
the
statement reads in part: “Amaechi’s perfidious apology laced with
underlying threats to the peace loving people of Rivers State remains a
desperate attempt by a drowning politician who is scheming to stay
relevant through undemocratic means, having sustained himself as the
governor of the state by deliberately killing the Judiciary, Legislature
 and emasculating the civil service.
“The
forthcoming Governorship and State Assembly elections provide the
people of Rivers State the opportunity to send a clear message to all
the political traitors in the state by supporting a true Rivers son,
Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, through a vote for the PDP and all her
candidates.
“Barrister Wike represents the revival of Rivers State
and the vision to make the state work positively for everyone who
resides in it, rather than a source for the enrichment of a few through
unbridled corruption.
“Despite Amaechi’s sinister techniques, the
people of Rivers State will once again vote the PDP on April 11 because
they are committed to a Barrister Wike-led administration that will
build a truly united Rivers State, prosperous with boundless
opportunities for everyone who lives in it to peacefully pursue their
goals and realize their full potentials in dignity and happiness”, the
statement said.
The statement further counselled Ameachi to
conclude work on his handover notes to Barrister Wike rather than waste
his time trying to subvert the will of Rivers people, adding that it was
time that the people completed their political statement, started on
March 28.
